The incidents of firing into air that cause death of approximately 700 people in a year, have been happening in Turkey. It is a dangerous custom to fire to celebrate during ceremonies such as wedding, engagement party, and hen night and circumcision party.

“Endangering public safety deliberately”, “threatening to cause panic and fear among public” and “provoking to commit crime” according to the Turkish Penal Code. (23.02.2010) Print

Endangering public safety deliberately (Article No. 170); those who:
1. Cause panic and fear among public which may risk the life, health and properties;
a) Set fire;
b) Cause the collapse of buildings, landslide, avalanche falling, flood or spate;
c) Shoot with arm or use explosives are sentenced to imprisonment from six months to three years
2.   Those who cause the fire to start, a building to collapse, landslide, avalanche, flood or spate are sentenced to imprisonment from three months to one year or they are fined.

 Threatening to cause panic and fear among public (Article No. 213); those who:
1. Threaten openly the life, health or sexual immunity or property to cause panic and fear among people, are sentenced to imprisonment from two years to four years.
2. In case the crime is committed with arm, the prison term may rise by half according to the type of the arm.

Provoking to commit crimes (Article no.214)
1. Those who provoke openly to commit crimes are sentenced to imprisonment from six months to five years.
2. Those who arm some part of people against the other part to provoke them to kill each other, are sentenced to imprisonment from fifteen years to twenty four years.
In case committing crimes related to the provocation, the one who provokes to commit crime, is sentenced to imprisonment as the instigator of these crimes.
