Approximately 3 years ago I was leading a session in a panel organized by Umut Fundation. The object was generally social violence… Specially,
-The prevention of Individual Armament!...
It will be remembered, this special matter was on the agenda of TBMM and for that reason the media. What’s was on the agenda was the change of the code which was almost provoking the individual armament. One of the parties who were discussing this matter n the media, is one of the experts on the matter the managers of Umut Foundation. Naturally, they objected strongly with numbers, examples…

From the point of view in the panel it is understood that, the most important tools of the violence that a human applies to another are the firearms. And generally;
-Is a tool removing the right to live of a person!..
In the panel between the general object examined various forms of the violence were discussed.
-Violence against women, violence against children, violence against animals and others.
After the declarations in the evaluation section it is appeared that there is also another form of violence which is not usually determined but exists as a social problem;
-The violence that the human applies to himself!...
Another determination for it, especially, one of the news type that media jumped on once, the suicides…

It took more attention than the other violence types and was discussed for a long time. I have told a recollection of mine in that discussion section...
Regular readers will remember. Our newspaper ANADOLU, never published a suicide story since the time it started its publication life, since its first number. The reason of this decision between our publication principle was simple, not being a bad example for the people who might be in this kind of depression for various reasons!..
When I said that I was applauded by the auditors, for appreciation. I would like to prove how right we were by telling an example we have experienced. The event was as follows;
“One day, a young person who climbed on the columns of Atatürk stadium, was telling that he will jump for the reason that he was unemployed. At the end, the Metropolitan Mayor Büyükerşen had gave him employment promise and than he got down.”
There was a social side of the event and the picture was so great… We gave the news by the title “the depression of the unemployed young person".
-Finally an intervention which is not succeeded!... I had concluded my expression with these 2 sentences;
-Two days later we heard the news, another young person was leaning out from a 7 store building. And also in the building in which our Association of Journalist was situated!...

There was a mass laughter. Why Did I remember these. I get from yesterday’s article of Önder Baloğlu, some of our associates approach to our “not publishing suicide” news principle. I am actually glad…
